FACS Classes

The Medicine Valley Public School system places a strong focus on Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and offers a variety of classes to take.  All students are required to take a standard FACS course in 7th and 8th grade.  These courses give a sample of what is available for students in high school.  FACS prepares students for real world challenges in many different ways.  Through FACS classes students are informed of potential career paths to follow as well as how to make life choices based on which careers they have an aptitude for. Foods class can turn nearly any student into a gourmet chef, and child development class helps students understand human growth and development. Helping to prepare them for working with and raising children. College planning classes help students prepare for their future after high school. One of the most important programs that is part of the FACS curriculum is FCCLA.

The Medicine Valley FCCLA Chapter always tries to apply FACS standards to our STAR projects as well as our program of work. Listed below are a few of the standards we have focused on this past year.
